TRINITI advised ÄIO, an Estonian biotechnology startup, in raising EUR 6,1 million in its latest financing round.
ÄIO, founded in 2022 by Nemailla Bonturi and Petri-Jaan Lahtvee, is shaping the future of fats and oils. ÄIO’s mission is to offer sustainable and healthier alternatives to palm oil, coconut oil and animal fats. For this purpose, ÄIO is developing the next-generation ingredients for the food, cosmetics and oleochemical industries which really will help to save the planet. According to Bonturi “ÄIO’s oils, produced from industrial residues, help reduce land use by up to 97% and water consumption by as much as 10 times compared to current palm oil and animal fat production. Additionally, the speed of oil and fat production through fermentation is 10 times faster.”
The investors participating in this round included 2CVentures, SmartCap, Voima Ventures and Nordic Foodtech VC.
TRINITI advised the client throughout the entire transaction, starting from negotiations, preparing all the deal documents to closing the transaction. TRINITI’s team was led by associate partner Valter Võhma and also included patent attorney Maria Silvia Martinson and junior associate Peeter Aleksander Paju.
