In April 2026, TRINITI hosted the European Union Roundtable of Financial Centres (EU RFC) in Tallinn. The event brought together FinanceEstonia and other leading financial sector organisations from across Europe to discuss how to strengthen the EU’s financial ecosystem in support of a more competitive, innovative and resilient European economy.
Key topics included EU competitiveness, the development of the Savings and Investments Union (SIU), Open Finance and the Financial Data Access Framework (FiDA), as well as the future of digital currencies, anti-financial crime measures and cybersecurity. Across the discussions, participants highlighted the need for more coherent and practical regulation, improved cross-border capital flows, and stronger technological capabilities to help European businesses scale.
“Hosting this roundtable in Tallinn was a valuable opportunity for TRINITI. We are happy to contribute to discussions that are shaping the future of European finance. As an active member of FinanceEstonia, it is important to us to support dialogue between financial centres, policymakers and market participants, and to help advance a regulatory environment that is both forward-looking and practical,” said Katri Tomson, Head of Banking & Finance at TRINITI and member of the FinanceEstonia Management Board.
A clear takeaway from the roundtable was that closer cooperation between European financial centres is essential to strengthening the EU’s long-term global position. The meeting provided a strong platform for sharing ideas, aligning priorities and advancing common goals. These include reducing fragmentation, easing regulatory burden and unlocking investment potential to support the future development of the European financial sector.
The EU RFC brings together leading financial sector representative organisations from EU Member States, including: Banking & Payments Federation Ireland, Berlin Finance Initiative, Febelfin (Belgium), FinanceEstonia, Finance Malta, Finanzplatz Hamburg, Fin.Connect.NRW, Frankfurt Main Finance, Future Finance Poland, Italian Banking, Insurance and Finance Federation (FeBAF), Luxembourg for Finance, Paris Europlace, and Stuttgart Financial.
