2006-2007 – Legal adviser to the Minister of Justice.

2003-2006 – Member of the supervisory bodies of several state-owned and municipal companies, including Latvian Mobile Telephone, Latvenergo and Riga District Heating.

2000-2005 – Legal adviser to the Association of Representative Offices of Foreign Pharmaceutical Companies.

Below are some of his professional highlights:
- Advising a Latvian transportation company in establishing a joint venture (Euro Rail Cargo) with a leading Russian transportation company.
- Advising more than 10 effected venture capital investments in various industries including investment in the development of organic cosmetic products by bio2you; investment in Steel Constructor MM, a Latvian private equity company, for development of residential and industrial building systems; investment in Square Audio, a Latvian private equity company, for development and production of high-end audio equipment.
Altogether, Ivars has advised in more than 100 transactions with a value of over 200 M EUR.
Contribution to Lawmaking
In 2008, Ivars developed the concept for a regulatory framework on the acquisition of prospective territories for RIGA International Airport.
In 2009, Ivars was engaged in a study performed at the request of the Association of Representative Offices of Foreign Pharmaceutical Companies on the necessary amendments to medicines reimbursement regulations.
In 2008, Ivars was assigned by the Latvia Investment and Development Agency of Latvia to the team developing regulatory framework and guidelines for the Competence Centres state aid programme.
In 2006. Ivars acted as a legal adviser to the Minister of Justice and was involved in the development of judiciary policy and legislation.
