Triniti part of the initiative for autonomous driving in Latvia

Expert from Triniti Latvia Arina Stivrina is taking active part in the governmental task force for development of initiative for autonomous driving in Latvia under the leadership of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Latvia.
Currently the legislation of the Republic of Latvia does not contain regulations in respect of operation of vehicles in autonomous mode on shared roads. The initial goal of the task force is to draft the regulations for testing of autonomous vehicles and related traffic management systems on public access roads.
Current approach by the task force is to work with existing regulation framework under the premise that there is a human always in the driver’s seat with full responsibility for partially autonomous vehicles, hence the responsibilities would be the same as those of drivers of non-autonomous vehicles. Regulation being drafted will specify requirements for test vehicles, test enviroment and requirements towards the drivers.
