EU Funding for Intellectual Property Protection

The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) has once again made funding available to help small and medium-sized enterprises protect their intellectual property. Costs for registering national and EU trademarks and designs can be substantial – the official fee to register an EU trademark alone starts at over €800. After submitting an application, businesses can recover up to 75 % of the official fees for both trademark and design registrations, whether they register in individual countries (for example, the Baltic States) or across the entire European Union.

Registering your intellectual property is a crucial step, especially when you’re trading on foreign markets. It helps guard against potential disputes and prevents others from using similar trademarks or designs.

EU funding can be used for:
  • Audits of your intellectual property portfolio

  • Advice on infringement of intellectual property rights

  • Registration of trademarks and designs at national, EU and international levels

  • Preparation of patent applications

If you’d like more information about the funding programme or want advice on your intellectual property protection strategy, we can help!
