In the Baltic legal market, Eriks is recognized as having a high reputation and integrity for strategic financial projects that lasted from several months to several years. Starting from the legal assistance to Swedish banks in Latvia in the 90ties by successful acquisition and merger of smaller banks, throughout takeover of the largest privately-held local bank following the global financial crisis in 2008 and creation of a new banking entity in 2010 to be sold to a global investor in 2015.
The main strength of Eriks has been in negotiating complex transactions of asset transfer and recovery, including loan portfolio purchase, acquisition and reorganization of businesses, winding-up of companies, restructuring of failing entities as well as representation of creditor interests during the various phases of companies’ business cycle. Securities issuance, transfer and settlement at the Latvian Securities Depository and NASDAQ Riga is also one of the key areas where Eriks has recent expertise.
Appointment at the panel of arbitrators of the Riga International Court of Arbitration has provided valuable practical experience and knowledge of private dispute resolution by rendering awards both as sole arbitrator as well as co-arbitrator for large scale cases.
Eriks has over several years served as a Management Board member and Supervisory Council member in various companies thus gaining the business perspective and skills required to assist other businesses during corporate governance. Starting in the year 2010 he continuously assisted the Baltic Institute of Corporate Governance to gain prominence as the most respected venue for directors and company officials to share their expertise and views.
