A project titled “Developing Technological Solutions and Production Possibilities for Sustainable Aviation Fuel in Estonia and Latvia” has been launched in cooperation between Estonia and Latvia.
The aim of the project is to research the possibilities of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production in both countries, providing recommendations for the optimal policy mix to enhance access to SAF. This initiative is particularly relevant in light of the European Union’s ReFuelEU Aviation Regulation (2023/2405), which is part of the Fit for 55 Package and came into force in late 2023.
The project has been initiated by the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Latvia and the Ministry of Climate of the Republic of Estonia, with support from the Technical Support Instrument of the Directorate-General for Structural Reform Support of the European Commission (DG REFORM). The implementation of the project is being carried out by PwC, whose strategic partners include the TRINITI team consisting of partners Ergo Blumfeldt, Tõnis Tamme and lawyer Madlenne Timofejev.
The project officially commenced on July 31, 2024, and will last for 16 months, concluding on November 30, 2025.
