International Conference on the Business Potential of Rail Baltic


An international conference Business Case: Rail Baltic will take place on October 13, 2016 in Tallinn Estonia, at the national art museum KUMU organised by the Rail Baltic Business Network (RBBN).

The keynote introduction will be given by Mr Kristen Michal, the Minister for Economics and Communication of Estonia. Mr Henrik Hololei, Director General at DG-MOVE of the European Commission will speak about the general impact and status of the project from the European point of view. Mr Baiba Rubesa, the CEO of the Baltic railway joint venture RB Rail AS will elaborate on Rail Baltic as the project of the century for the Baltic states.

Participants of the conference will hear summaries of comparative case studies of other large European cross-border infrastructure projects like the Öresund bridge and the Femern tunnel as well as views to the regional megaproject from neighbouring Finland and Poland.

Mr Nauris Klava, EY partner responsible for Baltic advisory services, will shed light on the ongoing analyses of the economic viability of the new railway and the conference will be concluded by an intriguing high-level panel discussion: Where comes the business from?

RBBN is an independent non-governmental organisation of entepreneurs interested in the analyses and utilization of the business potential of the new passenger and cargo railway to be built from Tallinn, Estonia to the Lithuanian-Polish border with substantial sopport from the EU Connecting Europe Facility within the next 10 years.
