Protecting “Moët & Chandon” IP rights under dispute

Triniti

TRINITI intellectual property team has successfully represented “Moët & Chandon” (MHCS) – the world’s leading champagne house since its foundation in 1743 – in a dispute regarding the confusing similarity of the trademarks.

A trademark “CHANSON”, held by UAB “ITALIANA LT”, one of the best-known producers of alcoholic beverages in Lithuania, had been registered with the State Patent Bureau of the Republic of Lithuania. In the clients’ opinion, the said trademark has infringed the clients’ rights to the earlier trademark “CHANDON”. TRINITI team prepared an opposition against the infringing trademark, which was filed with the State Patent Bureau. The registration of the infringing trademark was cancelled as a result of the proceedings.

Client has been advised and represented by partner Vilija Viešūnaitė and associate partner Aurelija Rutkauskaitė.
